How to read this guide

Official published rate means the operator posts a specific current fee or schedule. Dynamic pricing means the amount appears only after you choose a date, time, player type, or inventory. We do not convert live prices into a misleading fixed “from” rate.

Rows without a number are intentional. “Call for rates,” “no current public rate,” and “temporarily unavailable” describe what the official source supports today.

What changes a San Diego green fee?

Day of week and tee time usually matter first. Resident programs can materially reduce municipal fees, while twilight and super-twilight windows trade daylight for a lower price. Cart inclusion varies: a low-looking green fee may exclude a per-rider charge.

Advance-reservation fees are also separate at several municipal courses. Compare the complete terms in the row and source—not only the first dollar amount.

Resident and nonresident rates

San Diego, Coronado, Chula Vista, National City, Escondido, Carlsbad, and other operators apply different eligibility rules. Bring the required current identification or resident card. A resident price in this guide is never a promise that the golfer qualifies.

For the City program in detail, read the Torrey Pines resident rates and Twilight guide.

Twilight, walking, and cart costs

Twilight can be a strong value when sunset leaves enough time for the intended round. Confirm when the window begins, whether a cart must be returned early, and whether the rate is for 9 or 18 holes. “Cart included” means the reviewed public schedule included a shared cart; single-rider surcharges can still apply.

A practical booking strategy

Start with the comparison, open the official source, then check a few nearby dates and times. For the 11 supported courses, Play Golf SD can surface recently cached tee-time leads; booking is still completed manually on the official provider site. For all other catalog courses, go directly to the operator.

Methodology and freshness

Every row maps one-to-one to the current Play Golf SD course catalog and was checked against an official course, government, resort, military recreation, operator, or official booking source on August 2, 2026. Third-party editorial roundups were not used as rate authority.

We retain effective dates when an operator publishes one, document stale or image-only schedules, and suppress numeric claims where the operator uses dynamic pricing or does not expose a dependable current fee.
