Golfer Guide

Know the booking window before you plan the round

Public daily-fee. Reservations by phone up to 7 days in advance; Pro Shop phone lines open daily at 5:15 a.m. Singles are normal in observed operations and can join a wait list for pairing, but this is not a published availability guarantee.

Conditions are a major part of the appeal

Current large-corpus sentiment is favorable and characterizes greens as fast; exact same-day speed/condition remains dynamic. Fairway coverage has shown more variability than aggregate condition scores suggest. Current irrigation/sprinkler renovation can materially change future turf quality; do not freeze pre-renovation condition history.

A renovation or redesign can change what you find

Booking is phone-only. Call up to 7 days ahead; lines open at 5:15 a.m. No fivesomes, no spectators, every golfer needs their own clubs. A major sprinkler/irrigation renovation is expected to intensify in Oct–Nov 2026… 18-hole public daily-fee full-length course; 1956 facility lineage, relocated to current Sweetwater Road site in 1981.

What the course is like

The challenge comes from more than just yardage

Flat, tree-lined Sweetwater River valley routing with mature eucalyptus, doglegs and water-influenced strategy. Easy-moderate overall; the current Black setup is 6,187 yards, par 71, 69.4/118, with challenge coming from trees, doglegs, water and fast greens when conditions are strong.

Walking the course

A good course to walk

Exceptional; relatively flat routing, short transitions and direct course positioning make Bonita one of South County's strongest walking options. Excellent walking fit; carts optional at $15 per rider and drivers/renters must be 21+. Flat, tree-lined Sweetwater River valley routing with mature eucalyptus, doglegs and water-influenced strategy.

Pace of play

Build extra time into the round

Generally reasonable but variable. 18Birdies labels pace Fast; detailed reports include rounds a little over four hours and slower experiences when crowded.
